On August 22, 2024 West Grey officers were called to an address in Elmwood for a reported assault. The suspect fled before police could arrive. A 51 year-old male was later located, arrested and charged with multiple offences including Assault, Fail to Comply with an Undertaking and Operation while Impaired. He was held for bail and released by the Ontario Courts of Justice with conditions. He will appear in court on September 18, 2024.
Just after midnight on August 31, 2024 West Grey officers were dispatched to an address in Normanby for an unwanted person. Upon officer arrival a 39 year-old intoxicated female was located. When officers advised she would need to leave the premises and offered a taxi and hotel room, the female became belligerent and assaultive toward officers. She was eventually placed under arrest, transported to the West Grey Police Service, charged with three counts of assault police as well as trespassing. She was released on conditions once sober and given a court date in October to answer to the charges. Officers did accompany her to the residence to retrieve belongings. The homeowner called later to state the accused returned again in breach of the conditions placed on her. A warrant is now being sought charging her with failing to comply with an undertaking.
On August 28, 2024 West Grey officers were advised a 60 year-old male from Durham had breached a non communication condition of his undertaking. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.
On August 27, 2024 West Grey officers were advised that a 38 year-old male from Durham was breaching the conditions of an undertaking issued by Huron OPP. The party breached a non communication condition of his release order. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.
On September 2, 2024 a West Grey officer on patrol saw two people acting suspiciously in the area of the library in Durham after exiting a vehicle in the parking lot. After investigating the vehicle and occupants the driver of the vehicle was charged with possession of a schedule I substance (methamphetamine) and released to a court date in October.
