On October 11th, 2024 an off duty West Grey Police officer observed a male party causing a disturbance at a local business.
The officer called for assistance and approached the 37 year old male. The party refused to leave the premises when directed by responding on duty officers. The male resisted attempts to arrest him for trespassing for failing to leave the property and he was eventually arrested and transported to the West Grey police station. He was charged with assaulting a police officer, being intoxicated in public and failing to leave premises when directed. He was released from police custody on conditions and will appear in court at a future date.
On October 11, 2024 West Grey officers on patrol conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle at the north end of Durham. The investigation resulted in a 20 year old male from Wasaga Beach being arrested and charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking. The male was held for bail and remains in custody at the time of this release.
On October 17, 2024 West Grey officers on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Grey Rd 4 for an Highway Traffic Act violation. During the stop the occupants of the vehicle attempted to dispose of a baggie of methamphetamine. The occupants of the vehicle were arrested and further drugs suspected to be Fentanyl were seized. Two males in their mid thirties from London were arrested and charged with drug trafficking offences as well as other criminal code offences. They were both held in custody for bail hearings and have since been released by the Ontario Courts of Justice on a number of conditions.
On October 18, 2024 a 28 year old female from Durham reported being assaulted by a 30 year old neighbour in the town of Durham. Video evidence showed the alleged victim assaulting the suspect and as a result a 28 year old was arrested, charged and released on conditions.
On October 19, 2024 a On October 19, 2024 West Grey officers responded to a report of an assault in the town of Durham. Investigation revealed a 30 year old male resident and his 32 year old brother assaulted and threatened death to a male victim. The incident was captured on video and warrants were sought for the arrest of the two accused parties. On October 26, 2024 the accused turned themselves in and both were released on conditions. The other had outstanding warrants from another police agency and he was turned over to the other police service. Both accused will appear in court in December to answer to the charges.
On October 25, 2024 West Grey Police received a report of threats being made against a 18 year old female from Ayton via Snapchat. A 19 year old male from Owen Sound was arrested by Owen Sound Police on behalf of West Grey Police and he was charged accordingly and released on conditions. He will appear in court in December.
On October 23, 2024 West Grey Police were made aware of a 28 year old year male breaching his non association conditions of a release order issued back in August. He was arrested and charged with multiple breaches of his release orders as well as Criminal Harassment and Intimidation. When the vehicle he was in was stopped by police the driver obstructed police by denying the male was in the vehicle. The male was located hiding in the truck of the vehicle to evade police. As a result a 22 year old female from Walkerton, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested for obstruct police and released on an appearance notice. The male remains in custody at this time.
On October 27, 2024 a West Grey officer on patrol spotted a vehicle involved in an attempted theft of a trailer enter a property in the former Township of Glenelg. Officers entered the property to investigate the vehicle and observed multiple items that had previously been reported stolen. Investigation determined the property had been stolen by a resident of the property. The resident fled when police attempted to arrest hm for the stolen property. A warrant has been sought for his arrest for 15 criminal charges including break and enter, theft, possession of stolen property and flight from police. Two females who were located on scene were charged with possession of stolen property and will appear in court in December to answer to the charges.
