On January 1, 2025, West Grey Police Service responded to a reported animal attack on the Glenelg Holland Towline in the Municipality of West Grey. It was reported to police that the victim had been jogging on the roadway when he was attacked by approximately 5-10 dogs, for several minutes. The victim was aided by a passersby in a vehicle who assisted the injured party and transported him to the Brightshores Health Systems Markdale Hospital with serious life-altering injuries. The victim is still receiving treatment for his injuries.
A subsequent joint investigation was conducted by West Grey Police, West Grey Animal Services and Grey Bruce Public Health into this incident. As result of this investigation, a female party aged 69-years was arrested on January 14 on one charge of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
The accused will appear before the Walkerton Courts of Justice at a later date.
