West Grey Police report from July 16 to August 6, 2024

On July 23, 2024 West Grey officers were dispatched to an address on Bruce Road 10 in response to a damage to property complaint. A 32-year-old male from Hanover was arrested and charged with one count of mischief. He was released with conditions and will appear in court in August to answer to the charges.

On July 18, 2024 an officer on general patrol located a 30-year-old female who was breaching the conditions of a release order by being out without her surety. She was arrested, charged and held for bail. She was released by the Ontario Courts of Justice with new sureties in place and is now subject to GPS monitoring.

On August 1, 2024 West Grey officers responded to a break and enter in Elmwood. Security video helped identify the suspect. The 32-year-old male suspect from Walkerton was located by South Bruce OPP the same day for offences committed in their jurisdiction and West Grey was able to arrest and charge him with the offences occurring in the Municipality of West Grey. He remains in custody at press time.

On July 26, 2024 West Grey officers attended an address in Durham for a report of individual displaying threatening behaviour to other parties. A 59-year-old male resident was arrested and charged with uttering threats and causing a disturbance. He was released with conditions to have no contact with the people he threatened. He will have made his first court appearance by press time.

On July 31, 2024 West Grey Police responded to a reported break in and theft from a local campground. A 44-year-old male of no fixed address was found camping in the park and had possession of one of the stolen items. He was arrested and charged with possession of the stolen property. This same male is currently on release for a slew of similar charges. He was recently held for bail but was released by the courts. West Grey Police encourage residents to report any break and enter or theft.

On July 25, 2024 a 25-year-old female from Brockton who had previously been charged with assaulting her common law partner breached the conditions of her undertaking and was arrested, charged and released. She again breached her conditions by going to an address in West Grey she was not to attend and there is currently a warrant for her arrest.

On July 29, 2024 West Grey officers responded to a intimate partner assault on Concession 2 in West Grey. A 59-year-old male from West Grey was arrested, charged with Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and breaching the conditions of a peace bond. He was held for bail and released by the Ontario Courts of Justice on conditions.

On July 26, 2024 West Grey officers attended a residence in Neustadt for a reported intimate parter assault. A 62-year-old male was arrested, charged with one count of assault and released on conditions. He will appear in court in August to answer to the charges.

On August 2, 2024 West Grey Police received information that a 65-year-old from West Grey who was previously charged with assaulting his common law partner had breached his conditions of release and assaulted her again. He was arrested, charged, held for a bail hearing and released again.
