West Grey Library partners with Farlow’s Home Hardware to offer Repair Café in September

Save money! Save a beloved household item!

The West Grey Library, in partnership with Farlow’s Home Hardware in Durham, is holding an FBI (Fix Broken Things) aka Repair Café event on Saturday, September 14, at the Durham Town Hall on George St. This event supports the trend of repairing rather than throwing out household items, and to take the mystery out of these repairs.

Users are invited to bring broken items (portable only, please) to see if they can be given new life. The Repair Café is a free event for everyone. Check our website for information on categories of things that may be repaired at the café. Think lamps, clothing, wooden chairs, toys… The Library is also searching for more volunteers. A little skill is important, of course, but your enthusiasm and willingness to share what you know is key. Not only do volunteer fixers support the community by sharing repair know-how, but it’s a great way to meet other fix-it enthusiasts — and even enjoy new friendships!

For more information, visit the Library’s website, phone (519-369-2107) or email adultprograms@westgreylibrary.com

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
