OPP logo and red flashing lights

An individual is facing charges after the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle hauling a trailer with no lights on.

On May 31, 2024, at 9:32 pm, the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol on Grey Road 13 in Grey Highlands when they observed a motor vehicle hauling a trailer and the trailer had no lights on. The officer conducted a traffic stop. As police were speaking to the driver, the driver was displaying signs of impairment. The driver provided a sample of breath into an Approved Screening Device (ASD) which registered a fail. The driver was transported to the Grey Bruce OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, a 27-year-old from Grey Highlands was charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • No red light on rear of trailer

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on June 27, 2024.

Should you observe a suspected impaired driver, please dial 911 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or *677 from a cell phone.
