BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF — Billed as 'a night you may care not to remember,' youth from the Hanley Theatre Club in Flesherton spooked the Flesherton Frontier Village for three nights in late October.

Led by local veteran actor Michael Copeman and aided by a small but mighty team of volunteers, the group staged a walking play with several scary vignettes, culminating in a musical Grand Finale at the South-East Grey Support Services (SEGSS) Pavilion.

The event was free to the public but donations were gratefully accepted and supported the good work of the Hanley Institute.

The weather was perfect and organizers were buoyed by the overall success of the event. Approximately 500 people walked the route which featured simulated murders, zombies, witches and ghosts lurking in the trees and ruins of the abandoned old-timey town.

The group overcame many challenges that accompany an outdoor event such as this. Steep terrain, a lack of electricity and dilapidated structures were just some of the problems the group had to solve.

But solve them, they did and by all accounts, the project was a huge achievement. When asked if the event would be repeated in 2024, Michael Copeman entertained the possibility of a less ambitious, indoor version.
