BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF — October 1st marks National Seniors Day which coincides with the United Nations International Day of Older Persons. In advance of these celebrations of seniors' contributions in our communities, the Southgate Seniors Advisory Committee presents their first Seniors Health Fair since 2018.
The event will take place on Wednesday, September 21 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at the Dundalk Arena. Admission is free, with a free lunch courtesy of the Dundalk Dance Association. Chapman's ice cream and cup cakes from Dundalk Foodland will also be available.
Approximately 50 exhibitors have been booked, with greetings from Southgate Mayor John Woodbury, Deputy Mayor Brian Milne, and Grey County Warden Selwyn Hicks.
The theme of this year's Fair is 'Quality of Life' And will include a Tai Chi demonstration as well as presentations from Legal Aid, the Alzheimer Society, Grey Bruce Health, Healthy Eating, a six-member panel on Seniors Housing, Rural Health Care and a special theatre group presentation of a play about seniors abuse.
Saugeen Community Transit and Grey Transit Route will be bringing buses to the show while the Dundalk Fire Department will show off their truck and provide information on fire Safety.
The Southgate Seniors Health Fair is sponsored by South East Grey Community Health Centre, Community Foundation Grey Bruce, Older Adult Centres' Association of Ontario and the Province of Ontario.
