Bluewater District School Board is holding an Open House for Dundalk and Flesherton area program revisions

Bluewater District School Board building

Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) is holding an open house to address some important temporary changes that will impact schools in the Dundalk and Flesherton area starting next September.

The open house on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Grey Highlands Secondary School in Flesherton will provide parents/guardians, students, staff, and other community members with an opportunity to seek information regarding the temporary changes. Board staff and third-party consultants will be available anytime between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm to answer questions.

The temporary changes outlined below are needed as BWDSB manages increasing student enrolment in advance of the newly Ministry of Education approved junior kindergarten (JK) – Grade 8 growth school to be built in Dundalk.

Effective September 2025:

  • Highpoint Community School in Dundalk (currently Grades 3 – 8) will become a Grades 3 – 6 school.
  • The Grades 7 – 8 program currently at Highpoint Community School will be temporarily relocated to Grey Highlands Secondary School (currently Grades 9 – 12), which will become a Grades 7 – 12 school until the new school in Dundalk is complete.
  • Three ‘holding zones’ will be created in Dundalk. A holding zone is an area of high population growth and development within a geographic boundary where future homes will be built.
  • Macphail Memorial Elementary School in Flesherton (currently JK – Grade 8) will be the receiving school for JK – Grade 8 students from the three holding zones.
  • Dundalk and Proton Community School will remain unchanged as a JK – Grade 2 school.

A designated web page has been created as part of BWDSB's commitment to providing regular communication and support to students and families throughout this process. Members of the public are also invited to submit any questions to the following dedicated email address: dundalkprogramrevision@bwdsb.on.ca
