BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF — The first event of its kind to land in southern Grey County is about to present itself at Annesley United Church in Markdale this Saturday, January 13 from 1 - 5 pm. It's the Natural World Market, a market and conference that's all about living your best, healthy life in the natural world.
It was an Australian professor named Glenn Albrecht who coined the term "eutierria" which is a good and positive feeling of oneness with the earth and its life forces. According to Psychology Today, "Eutierria refers to secular experiences but echoes the 'oceanic' feeling identified in various world religious traditions. When it occurs, your perception of the boundaries between yourself and all else — the thoughts and feelings setting you off from the rest of the cosmos — seem to evaporate. The distinction between you and nature (or in the religious versions, nature and God) breaks down. You become one with the universe. A reassuring sense of harmony and connection with the world infuses your consciousness. It’s an experience that matches up with the knowledge of your own dependence on and connection to the world.
That's some deep and spirituous stuff, and it's the basic backdrop behind the Natural World Market, but organizers are quick to point out that, as Psychology Today states, the event is secular and doesn't connect directly with any organized religion. Instead, the market is meant to educate people about the products and services that align themselves with a natural world philosophy. From the food we eat to the way we keep our minds and bodies healthy, these offerings provide enormous benefit and are available to us locally.
Over 20 vendors will be on hand, promoting healthy living, from natural herbs, lotions, medicines, meditation and therapies to crystals, jewellery, whole foods, reiki and much more. There will also be 4 hours of fascinating presentations on a variety of interesting topics.

Admission is free and all are welcome. Food and refreshments from Susan's Delicatessen will also available for purchase.
