A fundraiser for the Grey Highlands Public Library exceeded all expectations, according to organizers Brian and Bo Penny. "I personally want express a huge thanks, as well as from the Grey Highlands Public Library to all our donors and volunteers who made our fundraiser plant sale this past weekend such a huge success," said Penny. "Our goal was to raise a bit more than we did the last year, but thanks to your support we raised almost double. We will be giving a cheque to GHPL this week for $4,075.55." Penny also thanked volunteers Lyn Ronald and Jim Phelan, Rosemary Morton , Kim Mullin Campbell, Peggy Ferris and Janet Carson. "We couldn't have done it without you!"

The many donors to the event included: Pine Valley Greenhouse, Fiddlehead Nursery and Fairmount Fields Organics, the "wonderful lillie ladies" Alison and Frances, who donated 25 varieties of named daylilies, fern leaf peonies and variegated iris; Barb Sheridan ("What would we do without you? We'd never get enough pots and blinds for plant markers," remarked Bo), Lilla Fodor and John Fodor who donating plants and pots, Julie Tyndall ("How many pots and plants did you save for us?" asked Bo), Ellie Pennings, Raymond Macdonald and Andrew Mackison and others who lent their tables, and many who brought plants from their own gardens: Ann Hahn, Joanna Cotton, Merylin Hammer, Christine Fry, Sharon Richardson O'Sullivan, Dale Beare who brought plants from the Annesley United Church sale as well as Markdale and District Horticultural Society, and many who I never even met as they simply left the boxes with plants on our driveway.

"You are all golden!" said Penny. The fundraising efforts will make an even bigger difference in the community as all leftover plants were donated to #meafordhospital for their fundraiser next weekend, with the exception of any vegetables, fruit plants, rhubarb and herbs that are being donated to South East Grey Community Health Centre for community gardens. "Thank you all for your support!"
