Kimberley Community Hall reopens after remediation work

Ribbon cutting in front of Kimberley Hall.

BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF — On Tuesday, September 17, a reopening ribbon cutting ceremony took place at Kimberley Hall before a Grey Highlands Town Hall meeting, attended by Mayor Paul McQueen, Deputy Mayor Dane Nielson and the majority of Council members.

Historic Kimberley Community Hall has undergone major remediation work on the front face of the building. The old brick was removed from the front and replaced with new. Some of the old brick was reused to make a new sign facing the street. Located in the hamlet of Kimberley, the hall has spectacular views of Old Baldy that can be seen in the photo above. Old Baldy is a rock face which soars 152 metres above the village on the Niagara Escarpment.

The building had also undergone renovations a few years ago which made changes to the kitchen and washrooms to make room for the elevator allowing the building to become fully accessible. The lower floor contains a kitchen, washrooms and a small library. The library was also closed during the remediation process.

The first event held in the newly reopened hall was the Grey Highlands Town Hall which was filled to capacity with an engaged crowd of Grey Highlands residents discussing various concerns such as Lake Eugenia algae, Talisman development, septic inspections, Beaver Valley water quality, road safety and other topics.
