The Ontario Plowman’s Association and the Bruce County Plowing Association have announced the International Plowing Match (IPM) will be hosted by Lang Farms on September 22 to 26, 2026 in Walkerton, Ontario.
This will be the fourth time the International Plowing match has been held in Bruce County marking its 50th year anniversary. The Executive Committee is excited and committed to making it the best ever!
Local farmer, businessman and entrepreneur Gord Lang has accepted the role of Chairperson and has already begun to assemble his Executive Committee and begin the planning that will require upward of 1500 volunteers to successfully host this international event. The Executive team has started to meet and put together the program as well as all of the sub-committees that will be required to make the week-long event a reality and a success.
One of the first orders of business that Chairperson Lang is focussing on is engaging the community to develop a logo and slogan and he issues the challenge to everyone in Bruce County to put on their thinking caps and their ideas to paper. It can be a brand-new idea, or as desired could be a culmination of favourite items included in past logos/slogans. Today is the kick-off for an Expression of Ideas for proposals which can be sent to the IPM 2026 email address brucecountyipm@gmail.com prior to the deadline of July 1st, 2024.
It is also the first call for volunteers who wish to be involved in one of the biggest events that the area will realize with over 200,000 people expected to attend. “Show your pride in agriculture, community and Bruce County and step up and help in one of the thousands of roles that will be required” stated Lang enthusiastically. Interested participants, volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, can send an email to brucecountyipm@gmail.com identifying your area of interest and one of the volunteer organizers will respond.
Mark your calendar and watch and listen for more details on local media and social media as plans are developed for what will be an event to remember in the County of Bruce in 2026! Stay tuned.
At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.
South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.
