On Tuesday, November 9, 2021, an in-depth investigation by Hanover Police culminated in a foot chase and subsequent arrest of a suspect in the downtown core. A man has been charged with numerous criminal offences that include multiple counts of Break & Enter, Possession of Stolen Property, and Theft.
As a result of this arrest and subsequent search warrant, Hanover Police have closed nearly 30 cases that began with a spike in break-ins and thefts early this past summer involving local businesses, residences, and motor vehicles – locked and unlocked.
“It was through a combination of tips from our community members, tedious review of hours of security video, and good old-fashioned police work that led to this arrest”. Deputy Chief George Hebblethwaite added, “this man has a lengthy record and can been described as a prolific offender .”
The 48-year-old accused recently relocated to Hanover from the Kitchener area. He has been released from custody on strict conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at Walkerton next month.
