Are you an adult aged 65+ living in Canada who has been targeted and/or victimized by fraud?
If so, King's University College would like to invite you to participate in the fraud victimization among older adults study being conducted across Canada, led by researchers at King’s University College at Western University and the Ontario Provincial Police.
Project Details
The goals of this study are to document the harms that victims and near-victims of fraud experience, and to determine the best ways to meet the support needs of older adults.
The study consists of one 60-to-75-minute session. Participation can take place over the phone or via online video telecommunication software, based on your preference. You will receive a $30 Amazon e-gift card in exchange for participation.
The research is being conducted by Dr. Joshua Wyman of King’s University College at Western University and Lyndsay Woolridge of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Ethics Details
This study received ethical approval from the King’s University College Research Ethics Review Committee on April 15, 2024.
All information collected during this study will be kept confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside the study unless required by law. Participants will not be named in any reports, publications, or presentations that may come from this study.
King's University College would like an opportunity to speak with victims and near-victims of fraud to discuss their project and answer any questions they may have. Participation helps contribute to research that may lead to benefits for older adults who are at risk of fraud victimization.
At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.
South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.
Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
