Grey Bruce Public Health is requesting the public’s help in locating the owner of a dog that was involved in a biting incident in Grey Highlands on Jan. 6, 2024.
At about 12:15 pm, a man, who was wearing a black-and-red hoodie and running on the Bruce Trail in the Hogg’s Falls area, north of Flesherton, was bitten by a grey-and-brown dog that appeared to be a mixed breed of German Shepherd. The dog was on a long, hands-free waist leash with another dog at the time of the incident.
Two women, who appeared to be together, were walking with the dogs on the trail.
Staff at Grey Bruce Public Health needs to confirm the dog is not infectious with the rabies virus. By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.
Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call Grey Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420 ext. 1518.
