Grey County supporting businesses and making it easier to buy local products

Proudly Made in Grey sign.

Grey County municipalities are working together to monitor, and respond to the ongoing trade challenges between Canada and the United States. A new business support webpage has launched at Grey.ca/business-supports. This page is Grey County’s central hub for details about resources, supports and information related to tariffs. It is being updated regularly as new information is received.

“During times of economic uncertainty, the strength of our communities lies in our unity,” said Grey County Warden Andrea Matrosovs. “We don’t know the full scope of the challenges that lie ahead, but Grey County will support our communities every step of the way, just as I know our residents will support one another. We will stand strong and resilient.”

Information on federal or provincial programs will be published on the webpage as it becomes available. News and details will also be shared through Grey County newsletters. The public can sign up for newsletters at the bottom of any webpage on Grey.ca. The Grey County economic development team is staying informed through federal, provincial and industry-led sessions. They are also connecting with neighbouring Counties across Western Ontario.

The Western Ontario Warden's Caucus (WOWC) is collecting data from businesses about the expected impact of tariffs. This information will help to inform advocacy and program development work. A link to the survey is on the Grey.ca/business-supports webpage.

Grey County encourages residents and visitors to shop locally. Supporting local businesses helps the community and local economy. Grey County is making it easier to identify local products. The Made in Grey brand is now available to any businesses that builds, grows, or manufactures products in Grey County. A branding toolkit and logos are available for download at Grey.ca/business-supports.

“Entrepreneurs and small businesses are the engine of our regional economy. Grey County is here to support them, and we know our community wants to support them too. Made in Grey branding is a tool available to all producers and manufactures. It's one way to mark products as proudly made in Grey County,” said Savanna Myers, director of economic development, tourism and culture.

Made in Grey launched in 2019. The goal of the brand is to strengthen community pride and support for Grey County businesses. It has been used in public-facing co-promotion around Grey County and beyond. It is a stamp of local pride. Local businesses are invited to use the Made in Grey brand. There is no cost to take part.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
