The Blue Mountains Public Library’s Arts and Culture Council (ACC) is thrilled to announce the opening of Beverley Smith’s latest exhibit It All Starts with a Scribble. This interactive art display showcases a selection of work Smith created during her two-year artist-residency at La Macina Di San Cresci, nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscany, Italy.
Join us for the exhibit’s opening on Saturday, April 5, from 2:00-4:00 pm. Enjoy the opportunity to meet Beverley in person, explore her vibrant artwork, and hear the stories behind each piece while savouring refreshments.
Free admission – all are welcome!
Beverley Smith has been a professional artist since the early 1970s, having graduated from Sheridan College (The School of Design) and a textile design college in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1980, she moved from Toronto to the Beaver Valley, where she became renowned for her textile art, murals (including the mural in the L.E. Shore Library’s story tower), maps, and whimsical illustrations inspired by the local area.
In addition to her artistic practice, Beverley ran a successful bead business, Holy Crow Beads, served as President of the Society of Canadian Artists, and worked with Italian aid organizations in Northern Uganda, where she taught jewelry design and beading techniques.

We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.
South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization.
