A Southgate individual is facing charges after an Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) System notification.
On February 23, 2024, at 1:04 pm, the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were patrolling Victoria Street East in Southgate. The officer received an ALPR notification for unauthorized plates. The officer conducted a traffic stop. As police were speaking to the driver, the driver was displaying signs of impairment. The driver provided a sample of breath into an Approved Screening Device (ASD) which registered a fail. The driver was transported to the OPP Detachment in Chatsworth for further testing.

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 7, 2024.
