Beautiful "Zylah" recently came to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter (GBAS) from another shelter. Originally picked up as a stray, her owners were contacted but sadly did not show to pick her up and she has had no interest at the other shelter either. Since the Shelter has so many awesome friends and followers at GBAS, they stepped in as they knew they could find her the amazing home that she deserves. She is a large, 18-month-old Anatolian Shepherd, spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and flea-treated. This 80 lbs+ girl needs a family with a strong/firm hand to control her and lots of patience to work on her manners and training. At only 1-1/2 yrs, there is a lot of puppy still in her. She is a friendly, loveable dog but due to her size and nature, she needs a home as an only pet with no young kids. As she may be a bit of a runner, lots of exercise/walks and large fenced yard or acreage would be ideal. To meet this beauty, call and make your appointment. 519 372 1911.
During the COVID-19 crisis, people are working at the shelter to care for the animals but they are limiting the numbers of volunteers and restricting general public visits. GBAS serves the residents of both Grey and Bruce Counties who can no longer care for their own pet cats and dogs. The shelter minimizes the time that surrendered pets spend at the shelter by consistently matching animals with suitable new homes.
Largely volunteer-based, the shelter receives no financial assistance from any level of government and is 100% funded by adoption fees, private donations and fundraising events. The shelter is located at 457437 Concession Rd 8 S, Municipality of Meaford.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.
South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.
