Adoption of the week: meet Mr. Daisy

Adoption of the week: meet Mr. Daisy

SPONSORED CONTENT — Welcome Mr. Daisy! This sweet 9-month-old male domestic short-hair cat is neutered and up-to-date on all vaccines. The family that surrendered Mr. Daisy to the Grey Bruce Aninmal Shelter (GBAS), did so for his own safety. He was found and welcomed into the home at a young age by a great family who took him to the vet to get vaccinated and spayed. However, in the process found out the she was actually a male, hence the name. Although he gets along fine with the older cat in the home, unfortunately for Mr. Daisy, the very large dog in the home has begun to play pretty rough and they fear for his safety. We know we will be able to find this cute guy a great family! He has joined the shelters main cat room and loves to play and enjoys the other cats. To meet Mr. Daisy, call 519-372-1911 to book your appointment.

During the COVID-19 crisis, people are working at the GBAS to care for the animals but they are limiting the numbers of volunteers and restricting general public visits. GBAS serves the residents of both Grey and Bruce Counties who can no longer care for their own pet cats and dogs. The shelter minimizes the time that surrendered pets spend at the shelter by consistently matching animals with suitable new homes.

Largely volunteer-based, the animal shelter receives no financial assistance from any level of government and is 100% funded by adoption fees, private donations and fundraising events. The shelter is located at 457437 Concession Rd 8 S, Municipality of Meaford.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
