Pet adoption of the week: meet Bear, a sweet Lab-Bernese Cross

Pet adoption of the week: meet Bear

SPONSORED CONTENT — Here's a sweet guy who has been with the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter (GBAS) for quite a while. They would love to find him a home and he would love to find a forever family.

Bear is a handsome boy, a one-year-old Lab-Bernese Cross and lovable as they come. He is enthusiastic about people, loves belly rubs and kisses, and looooves to run and play.

He enjoys playing with and being out on walks with other dogs, but can be a bit territorial about food and toys with dogs so would likely be best an as only pet (with some play dates with friends!) Bear has a lot of energy, so needs his exercise. He will need an active home and a fenced yard. He would make an excellent running or hiking buddy, and based on how fast he zooms and how quickly he takes corners, would probably have fun doing some dog sports or agility too.

Bear is neutered and up-to-date on shots. Please call GBAS at 519 372 1911 for an appointment to meet this sweet guy

Largely volunteer-based, the GBAS receives no financial assistance from any level of government and is 100% funded by adoption fees, private donations and fundraising events. The shelter is located at 457437 Concession Rd 8 S, Municipality of Meaford.

Although COVID-19 protocols have been relaxed, the GBAS is continuing to arrange animal visits by appointment. It allows volunteers/staff to spend enough time with prospective adopters as well as people surrendering animals. Face masks are optional.

For further information regarding surrenders, adoptions, donations and volunteering, please visit us at grey-bruceanimalshelter.com or Facebook at Friends of the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter or Instagram at Grey Bruce Animal Shelter.

The Shelter Funder

If you want to support local pet rescues while getting a little something for yourself in return, The Shelter Funder boasts a variety of gems and jewellery, including rings, earrings and pendants as well as original artwork and signed prints. A gemologist and art lover for decades, Grey Highlands resident Barry Tuddenham is selling off all his stock and using the profits to help causes that are important to him, including several pet rescues and humanitarian organizations.

The retired gem stone buyer has also launched an online auction service but he cautions visitors to learn how it works before bidding.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
